Social Media Advertising Sends A Local Nail Salon’s Business To The Moon

Read an article this morning on NOLA.com about a nail salon in Baton Rouge, La who’s business took off with the help of social media marketing!!!

I had a client ask me yesterday, “James, what results can we expect from social media marketing?”

Mr. Client, there are 279,834,232 internet users in the United States alone. Of those internet users, 65 to 70% use social media. 181 million people in the United States use social media. With that kind of reach Mr. Advertiser, we can accomplish whatever goal you are trying to accomplish.

This particular advertiser has a goal to brand his company to a slightly younger demographic/audience and increase foot traffic amongst the younger audience. As you can see in the chart above, the 18-29 and the 30-49 year old markets are very strong in the U.S. and growing as of 2012. So Social Media will compliment his brand and traditional media promotions, which will help drive a younger audience into his store.

The best way I can think to describe social media marketing is this: Imagine owning your own television station. As a television producer, your roll would be to develop creative shows that are entertaining, to keep people interested in your program so they will continue to watch your show/program and hopefully tell their family & friends about the program, right? Well social media is a forum of entertainment. Your page, your content, your pictures, your videos, your creativity all contributes to the social media users entertainment value. So put a concentrated effort into utilizing social media, and you will see the results!
